My
greatest ambition for 2007 is for marketers to
stop trying to appeal to captive audiences and
instead, start being captivating to audiences.
For
decades, marketers have been following the model
of placing marketing messages in mediums where
consumers are held captive … such as, television
commercials, print ads, and billboards. With splintered audiences as a result of
media proliferation, no such thing as a captive
audience exists. Yet, marketers are still trying to appeal
to so-called captive audiences with commercials in
movie theaters, online pop-up ads, commercials on
monitors in retail stores, and various other
forms of ad creep.
My
ambition is for marketers to spend dollars to make
their products more captivating and their overall
product experiences more captivating rather than
spending dollars on ads directed at captive
audiences. |

I am fortunate to have met people who have helped me look at life and business from a loftier vantage point. I, like most, have spent a lot of time and money investing in a stock that has limitless rate of returns with an opportunity to reinvest dividends. This investment, in the form of individuals, is available to all of us and the dividend is the renewed confidence received from lessons learnt, empowering us with new knowledge.
The last 1.5 years have seen me sharpening my skills and realized that the forest never ends. I was exhausted chopping my first tree and the next and so forth. I had a vision, but it was somewhat hazy. The vision lacked a proper implementation system, to create clarity, focus and balance.
My ambition for 2007 therefore, is to act daily on my four keys, to do the consciously, unconsciously; to measure progress on the scale of accomplished versus unaccomplished; To apply my 80/20 rule; 80% implementation, 20% continued education; To work 24/7; 24 hours a week, seven months a year; To have the financial stability to work on something that i love, for free.
And ultimately to have an obscene amount of time to do whatever I would like to do whenever I would like to, and most importantly in peace! |

Editing my life
Being in business of communication, I have come to realize the power of editing – how it reduces clutter and puts focus on what’s important.
My ambition this year is to edit the lesser important elements from all aspects of my life - be it trimming back on social obligations, business opportunities, expenses, hobbies, and ambitions.
This should certainly help me lead a productive and balanced life.. |

Yoga taught me that what you feel (your 'bhava') affects everything you touch. A fight affects the food you are making (while you are still upset about the fight), in turn affecting the people who eat it. The mood you wake up in affects all those who cross your path that day.
My greatest personal ambition is to work on controlling my mind and my moods and not the other way round. I want to have a stable mind, one that does not sway with all that it comes across. In fact, if possible, I want to try and maintain a sense of optimism so that rubs off on everybody else. Because only when my mind is balanced, will I be able to channelize it to greater heights. Yoga calls it 'mukti'. I call it a higher purpose of being.
It seems simple enough but not when you have an upset client or when your hard disk crashes all of a sudden. So I am going to try. Really hard. |

My greatest personal ambition is to make 2007 the year of my hobby.
I love playing the drums, but somehow between career ambitions, a mortgage and the daily grind, there was no time for music.
This year, I am a member of a couple of bands. We jam almost every weekend, and even do gigs! In some ways it even makes me better at my work - bringing joy into my day while giving me a hobby to look forward to. |

In this new year, my ambition is to stay brutally optimistic. See the opportunity in every difficulty and anticipate the most favorable outcome out of every situation.
It is rightly said that whatever you look for, that's what you'll find. We can get better or we can get bitter; it all depends on the lessons we draw from each experience. Optimism is like electricity - very little happens without it. Know this truth: you have all the resources you'll ever need to handle all the challenges you'll ever have. In true emergencies the true you will emerge. |

This year, my big ambition is to help others get what they want because they will help me get what I want. This principle has proven itself with family, business relationships, friends and others. For example, help iEvolution build its community of innovators then reap the knowledge as a partner. Another example closer home: my wife wanted me to take dance lessons with her; now that I have given her what she wants I get a better night's sleep.
It also seems like when you focus on helping others it produces happiness rather then pleasure.
End word: I have met too many advisors (including myself at times) that focus on 'what’s in it for me' rather than 'what can I do to help the situation'- this is my major focus for change, this year. |
